This is for a 67 L79 No A/C and No power steering. This is the alternator belt. By researching this forum I've found reference that the correct belt was GM #3861946 which was 3/8" x 54".
I currently have a Quanta reproduction of this belt. It does work, but I have the alternator all the way out on the adjustment. The belt doesn't slip but it is looser than it should be. (Yes I have the correct water pump, crank, and alternator pulleys for the L79).
A little more research and I found a reference to RMA (Rubber Manufacturers Association) 3L540. Searching on 3L540 I find references to various manufacturers like Gates and Dayco and show the correct size for 3L540 of 3/8" x 54". The only sources I have found are mail order. I really hate to pay $10 shipping to get an $8 belt.
Has anyone found a suitable belt for this application at a FLAPS? 66 or 67 L79 no power and no A/C.
By the way, measuring the Quanta belt I get 55 3/8 to 55 1/2 measuring around the outside diameter.
Thanks,
Don
