Folks:
Here is my weekly question on my '72 Restoration effort...
My car was built in September 1971. My ignition buzzer is not working and I understand there is a switch in my Tilt/Tele Column however my question is this ... Where is the actual buzzer located? After reviewing archived threads and also internet, the location is still not clear to me.
From the archived link below:
"Yes, the buzzer and switch are different pieces. The switch is what activates the buzzer and is, of course, contained within the steering column. For 1966-71, Corvettes used an ignition switch key buzzer that was integral with the horn relay. For 1972 and later, the buzzer was separate from the horn relay."
But my 1968-1972 2nd Edition Corvette Operations Manual & Performance Verification Test Guide says this on Page 17:
"1968-1972 cars were equipped with an ignition key warning buzzer that sounded with the driver's door open and the key fully in the ignition switch, the buzzer in the horn relay should sound."
Many of the online Corvette parts stores sell a buzzer module for 1972 thru 77 listed as Key Warning/Seat Belt Warning Buzzer (some noting that the buzzer is located in the wiring harness behind the dash between the Speedo and Tach). But my seat belt warning is done via a timer and not a buzzer making me question if perhaps my 1972 does not have this module.
Soooooo. Being that my 1972 was born early, i.e., September 1971, does that necessarily indicate that my Key buzzer is in the horn relay and not behind the dash?
Thanks in advance for your help in answering this question.
Regards,
Roger
