    70 Anti-Squeak Gas Tank Pads

I have finally given up my search for 0.10 in. thick felt and am gluing together layers to get the correct thickness.

Now I have a question on the correct size of the pads. The pads I took off my car are both 2 in. by 34 in. and appear to be original. Researching old posts, the pad sizes I am commonly seeing are 1.5 in. on the rear and 2.0 in. on the front. I also see posts of 2.0 in. on the rear and 3.0 in. on the front. These were all cars prior to 70.

Did they change the pads in 70 to both the same size? There are two part numbers listed in the AIM of 3763913 and 3937804, so you would expect them to be different. It seems highly probable that for whatever reason they used a front pad on the rear of my car.

    Thanks,
    Allen

Yes, with the different part numbers I would definitely expect the pads to be different. The GM #3763913 dates from about the 1958-59 time period. The GM #3937804 dates from the 1968 period. Neither were ever available in SERVICE.

Re: 70 Anti-Squeak Gas Tank Pads

From a very knowledgeable poster on the Corvette Forum who restored a 71 to 99.6%, I found:

The 913 strip (rear) is 2" wide and the 804 strip (front) is 2 15/16" wide.

And from measuring my pads, I am using 34" for the length.
