1960 Hood Release Cable - Lubrication?

Getting ready for PV with for a 1960. Does anyone have any tips/tricks for getting the hood release cable, repro or original (we have both), to return/reset unassisted?

Use a dry graphite lubricant. They consist of a volatile carrier, which evaporates and leaves the spherical graphic particles that are a very good lubricant for high load, low speed applications. Examples are "Lok-Eze" and motorcycle control cable lubricants.

DRI-SLIDE “Bike Aid” should be available at a motorcycle shop. Dri-Slide is packaged several ways however, Dri-Slide “Bike Aid” comes with a needle applicator handy for getting into tight places.

Be sure to wear disposable rubber gloves as the graphite flows easily. Follow directions and shake container until you hear the mixing ball rattling around.
