    AACA and NCRS

I joined the AACA mainly because a good friend belonged. I have a nice '65 coupe. Two time TF car. I am going to enter it in a AACA judged event in Mobile in March. Not too far from me. Have any of you folks had a car judged at a AACA event? Looks like they want the car looking just like it sat of a new dealer's floor? Appearance, condition and originality are considered. New folks must go for a 1st Junior. The judging is a bit complicated but I guess you must be judged a 1st Junior before you can move onto the Senior division? There are awards for 2nd and 3rd Junior. After a 1st Senior there is a Grand National class. Everyone starts with 400 points and deductions are taken from there. Your car is evidently in competition with other cars in your class? We will see.
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Re: AACA and NCRS

You need to obtain the AACA judging rules so you know what to expect. Cars are not judged against each other but the top scoring car sets the bar for that class meet. One has to score within a determined amount of that top scored car. Also beware only the 1st junior scoring cars qualify for going on to senior judging. And so forth for grand national and sr grand national but the requirement gets tighter toward the top car in class as you move up.

Be advised a perfect score is common occurrence in some classes. Thus the others have to score better.

My '81 Bowtie winner was also an AACA Jr. and Sr. 1st. It is fun, and different from NCRS, good luck!

AACA is a good club if you own a pre war car or 50-70’s undisable cars. But IMHO there awards mean nothing. I know to many clones and fake cars with there top awards

agree with Keith-AACA judging outcome means nothing. whereas NCRS judges will spend about 8 hours judging 6 or 8 cars per class, u can expect the AACA judge to spend about 3 minutes per car. and I've NEVER taken them an old chevy/olds/dodge wherein the judges got down and checked the undercarriages. and u will take considerable deductions if your car has decals attached to the window glass.and your corvette will likely be judged by aaca members knowledgable about Lincolns, Metropolotans, kaiser-fraziers, etc. mike

Oh, wait a minute Mike. Your 3 minutes to judge a car in AACA is a gross exaggeration. We spend at least 5 minutes judging each car. See you in Fla Mikey

FWIW: Belong to both clubs. Have had my Camaro's(Senior Award/Grand National Meet) Judged by AACA and Corvettes(Top Flight) judged by NCRS.They do not check numbers but are very
good in checking "detail". Probably like the new class being proposed/implemented by NCRS. In summary>AACA is more fun and NCRS is way more
intense. I have found that in both org. the judges are inconsistent from meet to meet. JMHO--Larry P.S. Picture below is from a Grand National
meet a few years ago in Moline IL.

Unlike NCRS you can download the AACA judging guidelines. Here is a link http://www.aaca.org/Meets/judging-guidelines.html
