    Headlight/wiper door relay valves

I've searched without success so I have to ask.

Who is currently restoring original vacuum relay valves?

    Thanks, Rick

Rick I have a 2011 catalog from Caledonia classic cars in MI. that states they restore relay valves and actuator canisters.

Caledonia wants $165.00 each to restore.

Richard Fortier restores them for $100.00 each

                  • Bob Demmel (27621) also does the relay valves and actuator canisters. I have not seen his work but I have heard good things.

                    Re: Headlight/wiper door relay valves

Question! Why do these over and pay a high price when new ones are available. Are the new ones incorrect, defective or what?
When old ones are rebuilt they are re-plated and all the rubber is replaced. Isn't an original just as obvious as a repo that it has been rebuilt.
And the repos are much more economical to purchase than paying the prices rebuilders want.

                        Correct.
Even worse are the imported ones that go in the wiper recess on the right hand side. Those are useless. There is one guy in the US making them correctly, but in batches.

The reproduction vacuum relays leak so bad, the car will not pass PV. They are junk. I buy 10 at a time and usually only find one that holds vacuum for over 5-minutes. The reproduction wiper switches will not hold vacuum for 5-seconds. They are even "junkier".

Bob is repairing them with new guts for a long term, permanent fix. I tested ONE of the prototype (repaired) wiper switches this last week, it lost NO vacuum over 24-hours. The vacuum relays are as good.

Bob has been doing all my relays and now my switches...
