93 -96 PKE (Passive Keyless Entry) Remotes

    Passive Keyless Entry Remotes (PKE)

I am specifically looking for information on the factory original 1994 Convertible (one button - door) PKE Remote.

My questions are: What does it say on the back of the Remote plastic case? (every word, number, letter and symbol)
What is the FCC ID number?
Is there a manufacturers name shown?
Is there a US Patent Number?
Is this a Snap Together Remote case? Or is it a Screw Together Remote case?

I am also interested in the same as above information for the factory original PKE Remote for the 1994 Coupe (two button - door/hatch) to see how it compares to the Convertible.

Any 1993, 1995 & 1996 C4 owners want to weigh in on this it would also be appreciated, and interesting.

Please, only information from the known original PKE Remote for your Corvette.

Thanks, & Save the Wave ..................... JGM

      Thanks David,

This conforms exactly to the information on my 1994 Convertible PKE Remote. Although I have had my 94 for 20 years and know the previous (2nd) owner neither of us are the Original owner, and because of that there can always be questions about originality. Recently I was scanning the internet, amazon and ebay to see if I could find a PKE Remote like our originals but came up empty. All the 1993-96 Convertible PKE Remotes that I could find are completely different on the back of the case. Although they are all listed as New GM O.E.M. the FCC ID is shown as PNZ0202T and the Remote case is screwed together with two Phillips head screws. No other information is shown. This is identical for the Coupe PKE Remote backside. Both Convertible and Coupe PKE Remotes that I observed are listed in the neighborhood of $150 to $200.

Here's the problem: there was a succession of part numbers over the years for these transmitters. The original part number for 1993 coupes was GM #10098466. Later, this became GM #10248454 and, then, GM #10282929. Currently, it's GM #88960923. While all of these are FUNCTIONALLY equivalent, that does not mean that the configuration is the same. In the world of GM parts, maintaining exact original configuration is a low priority for a part like this. In fact, the changes might have been made to correct problems with the previous designs. So, the later part numbers might be functionally better. Or, it could simply be "consolidation" or a new supplier.

        The convertible transmitter part numbers were GM #10098484 > GM #10248454 > GM #10282930 > GM #88960924.

I suspect that if you could find an NOS GM #10098466 or 10098484, you'd have a transmitter identical to your original. The chances of finding such an item? VERY, VERY slim.

          Joe,

Thanks for your input. I kinda thought that finding an exact match to my one-button Convertible PKE Remote manufactured by Lectron Products Inc would be an exercise in futility, and probably command a pretty high dollar if found. Current internet listings that I have seen for the Convertible PKE Remote are part number 88960924 (as you pointed out), FCC ID PNZ0202T and are GM OEM made by ACDelco.

The GM #10098466/10098484 were used only for 1993. The GM #10248454/10248455 were used for 1994-96 as well as 1993 SERVICE. The GM #10282929/10282930 may have been used for all or part of 1996 and 1993-96 SERVICE. GM #88960923/88960924 are SERVICE only.

I highly doubt that the current transmitters are made by AC Delco since AC Delco manufactures very few parts. Likely, these are made by some other supplier to GM/AC Delco.

It would be interesting to know how the above-referenced transmitters differ in configuration. 1994-96 owners with original transmitters could help out here.

Lectron Products was acquired by Eaton in 1994. That may or may not have precipitated the change to a new supplier for the transmitters in 1994.
