    C2 Carpet Updates?

As a matter of course, I have learned to accept that I will receive deductions on my Al Knock carpet for my 1963 Coupe. Typically, I have received -3 pts for too loopy and - 2 pts. for seams, binding and fit. After reading most of the threads on carpet correctness, I notice that most of them are rather old. I'm just wondering if anything has changed and if any carpets are on the market that will restore at least some of these points? I see that Long Island Corvette sells carpets that are advertised:
"From Corvette America and Auto Custom Carpets comes THE BEST LINE OF CARPET ever reproduced for Corvettes! Made with accurate 80/20 Loop with a correct foam backing."
My experience with them is that typically their claims are accurate. Additionally, are their any improvements available on seat backs or door panels? Any new thoughts on these matters would be appreciated?
    Thanks,
    Gene Kahn

If you only lose 5 points for non original carpets count your blessings and move on. The seat backs and door panels unless restored originals should take a hit. They are too deficient in configuration. Always better to restore original pieces rather than put in repops.

I think ACC has improved quite a bit. I know that Willcox Corvette sent them his original 65 carpet so they could fix their molds and now the repro pieces are much nicer.... And, yes, I'm aware that 63 is different but ACC is clearly paying attention.

C1 & C2 Corvettes - 1966 Dash Pads Restoration - Well my cluster renewal project has really developed project creep. I have black pads, passenger side is newer than the driver's side. Driver side is showing it's age, lost the luster and has scratches on the right vertical area. Is there a dye to renew the finish? Or...

But, for the sake of 5 points I wouldn't be ripping decent carpet out to swap in something else - as noted above...
That money could be spent elsewhere for other items with a higher point "hit" if needed...

My AK door panels took regional 'hits' and so will CAs but I think CAs fit better. My 63 AK repro panels did not have the slight 'bend' at the bottom of the vertical rear vent frame and were dead straight....some say that has been fixed recently. I had to place the panels on the ground and use a knee to gently bend the top door metal to shape. Too much and you kink the metal and the panel is ruined...a bit nerve-wracking.

The transition at the rear upper rear edge of the AK door panel to the door shell was not well-crafted either IMO.

I would go with CA door panels...

Thanks for your perspective. Seems reasonable

I apologize for posting to such an old thread, I didn't realize it was that old until after I posted.

I personally sent ACC all kinds of original samples from 63-82, One thing that I noticed and documented was that people would complain that the ACC stuff was not as thick as the original carpet sets when in fact they are a bit more plush. (I took pictures of both for documentation).

I'm sorry you guys but I'm not much into the judging thing but the CA panels and dash pads do fit like a glove and I've not had any issues in my shop with installing them.

But if there are any issues with any carpet set, I have ACC's ear on this and can get changes made if needed. Just like you guys, I got tired of the stuff not fitting properly and I'm buddy's with the vp at ACC.

              JYIO;
AK will install the door panels on your old steel door panel shells. I only found out accidentally when I called them. Saved me some money and the panels fit!
The old straight steel panels have been redesigned to closely resemble the originals.
