Draining '64 4 Speed Transmission Fluids

There are two plugs on the passenger side of the transmission case. One is about half way up the case and toward the back. This I understand is the fill plug. The second plug is at the bottom of the transmission and is toward the front. The shop manual and exploded parts diagrams do not address this plug. It appears to be a drain plug but the shop manual only addresses removing the driver side panel to drain the oil.

Is this bottom plug a drain plug? Seems logical but I don't want to do something stupid.

Likely was added by a previous owner. Many drilled and tapped a drain plug. Do you have a pic?

No,, this is molded into the casing and the transmission is numbers matching to the engine.

To the best of my knowledge, only M22's had a factory drain plug. Don't believe you could get one until 65 and they were rare.

They all had the protrusion for the drain plug but were never drilled and tapped. As Paul said above, someone probably installed one as it was a very common modification. Here's a pic. of my 65 showing the non-drilled/tapped protrusion.

            Jim and Paul
That looks like what was done. Now I can drain the tran without worry.
            Thanks
