Does anyone restore the ribbed upper rocker panel moulding?

    Guys,

Looking to see if anyone restores the upper ribbed rocker panel moulding. Is it even worth doing this or is the re-pop stuff indistinguishable? Thanks,

    Mike

Mike, putting the year of car in each time helps.

Are you referring to the door sill panel? If so repos are pretty good.

They're OK at best. The holes are generally in the wrong location, the holes are the wrong shape, and the paint is applied incorrectly.

I think he means the upper half of the 2 part rocker used on a 1969.

Michael, don't be afraid to post pics of parts in all your threads to make identification of the part - and year - much easier.

Thanks Patrick. I will in the future but can't right now. Yes I'm referring to what is called either the upper rocker panel moulding or the door sill. It is a ribbed piece of aluminum with satin black paint in the valleys. Anyone restore those?

You can have it re-anodized in clear, then paint the black yourself with SEM Trim Black.
So, look up locations that will do the service.

I was thinking of having them polished and then painting them. You think the clear anodized is a better approach? they are pretty scuffed up in a couple of places so I think I'll have to polish them no matter what.

If you want them as they were original, they were clear anodized.
                  That would be restoring them.
Polishing them and clearcoating them would be making them look pretty and way too shiny.
