    eBay Dreamers

Here's a "hot" NOS item for you guys needing pulleys. This is an "NOS" GM #3858533 balancer pulley. This was used on many Corvette applications from 1965 to 1982. Only $175. The problem is this pulley is still available from GM for a current GM LIST price of $52.33. So, what makes this "NOS" pulley worth at least 125 bucks more than the one you can buy from GM? Nothing.

There's also an AC350C air cleaner on e-bay for $136.00, still available for about 12 dollars, just bought two.

I think the pulley still available from GM is still made in Canada. The last one I purchased was.

I remember a similar post Joe wrote awhile ago about big block oil pans. Big $$ for beat up used pans on eBay even though they're available new from GM for a reasonable price. Thanks to this information, my car now sports an original looking, yet new oil pan.

Perhaps the sellers live by the teachings of P.T. Barnum.

I am pretty much done with Ebay. 15 years ago it was a good place to find parts that guys wanted to sell and did not have enough to warrant a swap meet space or just wanted it out of their garage and I found a LOT of good stuff. Then they turned the site into another Amazon and place for individuals to have an online store for new things and raised their prices dramatically. I listed a few items when they had a "free listing" day. Nothing sold, very few views or watchers and got a bill for $80.00.

Very often, "Buy It Now" prices far exceed what an item would bring in an auction. So, it's no wonder that most items don't sell.

Yes, but the "buy it now" also has a best offer feature so people can make an offer. I have three items list.
                    1. 57 Wonder bar and speaker/power pack priced at what I have seen old power packs sell for.
                    2. A pair of no casting flaw valve covers that have never been beaded for $250. and if they aren't worth that I will just hang them in the man cave.
                    3. A good running 57 Chevy engine that just needs to find the right buyer that needs the right numbers.

Just no traffic on these items, probably too close to Christmas.

FYI the 3858533 is discontinued from GM and they replaced it with a different # and does not look the same.
