1984 Rear suspension alignment.

I had all the rear bushings replaced along with axle u joints replaced about 1,000 miles ago. The car is only driven about 1500 miles a year. I noticed the other day that one of the rear wheels seems as if it was facing out. I took it to the shop and they aligned it. But the mechanic said not to let the car sit for long periods of time ? Should that effect the alignment ?
