Manifolds are 2” and the pipes are 2 1/2” and replacement exhaust is welded rather than swedged neck down to 2” diameter.

    Functional yes but not correct.

"My old '67 convertible had the welded pipe reduction from the factory. When I first noticed this in 1971, I assumed that this was some sort of freak cob-job. Since then I've seen other factory welded reductions. In fact, I've never seen a factory pipe that had a formed reducer, but that doesn't mean beans. There's a lot of stuff that I've never seen".

Did the St Louis factory weld the 2" pipe coming from the exhaust manifold - to the 2.5" pipe which follows ?

        Thanks in advance; David

I can assure you the St Louis factory did not weld the exhaust pipes. They were delivered that way to the St Louis factory by the exhaust vendor. that was either Arvin or Walker, but I believe mid-years were Arvin. You will have to have some 1967 experts tell you who the supplier of exhaust systems was for 1967, but whoever it was delivered them to St Louis that way..

A Walker is desernable by a “W” pressed in forming of muffler while the Arvin has a ”A” . I think the hardware/hangers was Arvin supplied. But GM may have multi sourced that too.
