Re: POST OLD PICTURES of CORVETTES HERE - NOSTALGIA

My 1967 327/350 real sidepipe coupe, marina blue with blue/white combo interior shown here by the owner prior to me outside his apartment in Elmira, NY February, 1971. I bought it in 1977. When I started the body-off restoration in 1993, I had to do major frame repair caused by that New York State road salt. I have been trying to find the first owner of this car also. It was sold new at O'Connor Chevy near Rochester, NY. In 1971 it was traded by a young girl to Elmira, Chrysler Plymouth in Elmira, NY.

My red/red 66 427/390 convertible I just bought this past June from the widow of the man in this picture. This former owner bought the car December, 1972. This picture is from the summer of 1973. Note the snow tires on it. Fortunately, this owner wrapped the car up in plastic and put in his garage in 1976 and there it remained til I bought it. Note it has no front bumper. I have been searching hard for the first owner. It was sold new at Bill Graham Chevy in Owego, in May 1966 and I think it lived in the Binghamton, NY area until 1972. Email me if you know anything.

Amazingly, both cars have no hit bodies and original motors!

My first '67, circa 1970, when these cars were everyday drivers and used for everything - including towing. I'm on the right (about 50 years younger) in the first pic getting ready to launch my Avenger SK hull at Clear Lake, CA. I regretfully traded it in to buy a new '71, pics 3 & 4. Notice the hitch on that one too.

Mike, you had quite the life back in 1970. California sun, '67 Corvette and a nasty ski boat. Great pictures. Did you buy the '67 new?

Tim, yes those were the good ol' days. I bought the '67 used in July 1969 when I got home from Vietnam. Thanks to the Soldier's Deposit Program (10% tax free interest), I was able to save a pretty nice chunk of money (it burned a hole in my pocket). My dad wanted me to buy real estate, but all I could think of was Corvettes, boats and girls (I was single at the time).

Re: POST OLD PICTURES of CORVETTES HERE - NOSTALGIA

Here's the "rest of the story" (re 1st photo of Bert's above, in post # 411). Found this while doing research on my last 396, VIN 23564, a convertible. Spent some time in the Shreveport / Marshall / Lake Charles / Tyler areas -- my car originally delivered to a Ruston LA dealer, and I was looking for the first owners -- up to 1968.

The car shown in the photo must be fairly late production, going by the text I framed in blue. Wonder if it's still in Alaska ?
