It was the condenser. Starts and runs fine now. The condenser was only a month old but that did it. Thanks for all the suggestions.

I bought a small supply of "NOS" Blue Streak uni-points on eBay for this reason. Those are generally high quality vs. whatever new stuff is available now.

Mark, I hope you don't have a issue as My points were standard ignition uni- points. quality is big question today as alot out source parts are made in China.

I hope so too. I got old stock made in USA years ago, but unused in their sealed baggie in the box. Hopefully they're as reliable as those I used back in the day. I'll let you know in a few years when I use them.

BTW, check out Standard's premium Blue Streak line. I can't tell you they perform better, but visually the workmanship and materials are great.

Virtually all vintage ignition system components of any recognizable "brand" including Delco, Standard, and Standard's premium "Blue Streak" product line are manufactured by Standard Motor Products, and I believe most are manufactured in Mexico to OE Tier 1 supplier standards, but there are always a few bad apples in every barrel that suffer infant mortality.

So, any name brand like Standard, Echlin, Niehoff, Delco... are basically the same SMP manufactured parts, but avoid "price leader" parts that are less expensive and not a traditional OE replacement "brand" that you recognize.

Good to know. I was recommending unused old stock which can be sourced on eBay. I've had good luck with it; can't speak to more recently manufactured components.
