    Holley Carb

    I have a Holley Carb # 3884505 DA. List 3367 (Date 504) The number indicates it's a 1966 carb for a 327- 300/350 hp. engine
The date reads 1965 - 0- what month does 0 mean? and 4 is the 4th week. Can anyone out there give me a heads up on the date?
Much Thanks: Harry Lombardo Member #38533

0= October. So, your date code = October, 1965, 4th week.

For general interest, 9= September which is rather obvious while the 0 or zero represents the 10th month which is not so obvious.

Since the 1 and 2 were used for January and February and would not clearly represent the 11th and 12th months like the 0 represents the 10th month those digits will not work for November and December so A and B were used. A for November and B for December.

Admittedly it was years ago, but you have no idea how difficult it was for us to figure out that date code. Holley wouldn't tell us (or we hadn't found the right person) and it took a road trip with four of us in a Suburban to work it through.

Then there was the debate: "Do we share this info with the rest of the membership?" At the time date codes on carburetors were not judged because the Holley code hadn't been broken. At the time the thinking was that it was unfair to judge date codes on other makes of carburetor if we couldn't judge all of them.

            Those were fun times.

Yes, I believe he was along with Carl Strohm, and a guy who had a carburetor rebuilding service whose name escapes me. We were heading to Berry Blocker's place.

This is almost like you were there. I think you nailed it.

Watch out for the Tryptophan. Happy turkey day to you and all the family.
