So, I guess that Bill gets a pass on this; whereas for another NCRS member in a past situation similar to this would have been considered a conflict of interest?

There is a difference between a person serving in a volunteer position for NCRS and a paid employee of NCRS. I hope you and others can understand that difference.

And that is all the politics we need this morning, and probably more than I should have said publically on the subject.

Re: Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals

The organizers gave me these stats for this year's show: "We had 562 cars total this year with about 60 Corvettes. Of those Corvettes, about 85% are C1, C2 and C3."

Seems like a small % of Corvettes compared to the old VetteFest.

Keith, I attended this year in pursuit of my Triple Diamond. It was an amazing event. The timing on the move-in process could improve a bit, but overall it's a very well organized and promoted meet. That I know, we had about five (5) NCRS members there (most from Florida) with their cars and they all got their Triple Diamond and Gold Concours Award. The judges were knowledgeable and for the most part, NCRS judges.

                    I'm attaching a few pics.

Vinnie, I agree that NCRS should have a booth there. There's a lot of foot traffic.

How was your experience during the move in and move out phase, with that many cars in such a small space, I get worried about that.

Michael, I understand that there may have been a glitch with the move-in process, because it took me four (4) hours to get in (according to some of the participants that have been there in the past, it usually does not take that long). However, the place is huge..., so once you are in, you are allowed to off-load and the car is escorted to your spot. Every car owner has a predetermined move-in date and time span that is assigned to them. It's on a sticker that goes attached to your tow vehicle and that you "ticket" to get into the convention center.

                          Move-out:

The exit process went smooth for those who chose to leave that evening. Most car owners drove their cars out and loaded outside. Bob and the convention center allowed us to exercise the option of moving out the follow day. That's what I did and it was a piece of cake. I got there about 12:00 noon and and place was practically empty with the exception of a few big rigs loading up their cars (but they were out of the way).

They do have an organize system, but in my opinion they can use an extra move-in day. Patience is need, because at the end of the day, they are trying to accommodate close to six hundred (600) cars.

It seems that they overbooked the Thursday move-in day and the Friday move-in day appeared to be lite. I think the car owners can benefit from a Wednesday move-in day as well, but of course, that may increase the cost factor for the event promoter.

I have no regrets attending. Sure the trailering from Miami, Florida to Rosemont Ill was long, but I made the best of it (I did it in three days).

In short, the show is a must do.

                          Hope this helps...

This is an easy show to visit. Fly into O'Hare, get on the "L" for 2 bucks and get off at the first stop. Rosemont is a beautiful town that works hard to attract visitors. The show is about 1.5 miles from the airport and all the hotels are across the street from the convention center. Plenty of restaurants and no need to rent a car.
