    Battery Hold Down/Shield Plated?

On a 64 mine is plated (yellow, likely yellow zinc) and then painted black. They AIM calls for two parts spot welded together and I guess then painted. So I'm pretty sure I have a repro but the question is this. Should there be plating?? I doubt it. Paragon sells a repro which is plated and that may be where mine came from.

I'm not real familiar with this part. However, I can tell you this: GM component parts may be either plated or painted. Sometimes, the GM spec for the part allows the manufacturer to apply either finish, optionally. However, I don't know of a single case in which any GM part receives both plating and painting. If painted, it's usually over bare metal.

Yes, repos are yellow cad but there should be no problem painting over the yellow cad.

Originals were black. They were originally dipped.
