Correct 1966 327/350 Oil Pan Drain Plug

I need to replace the oil pan drain plug on my 1966 327/350 in preparation for a Top Flight certification. The judging manual describes - a thin flathead 7/8" drain plug with white nylon gasket. It does not mention the plug having an "A" Headmark. Several online OEM's and reproductio sites mention the "A" Headmark as being correct. Anybody been through this before? Thanks

"A" was a common headmark for the drain plug. Others may have been used, too. Keep in mind that these drain plugs were not unique to Corvette applications. They were used on all engines of the period. So, a LOT were being used and multiple suppliers existed.

I think it's probably well-advised. If certain headmarks were specified, that might imply to some that only those headmarks were acceptable.

My 1966 327/350 has a " TR " head mark for the oil drain plug.

Hello Dan,...yes I have been thru this detail search before, for my 66 327/300 Base corvette and found my answer in the long island corvette web site and catalog, item 38-27C will provide a oil drain plug & seal with "A" within a circle, head mark, and item 38-27D will provide the same, with a magnetic bolt. I am sure these bolts are available at several of the corvette parts supply vendors. Have FUN.
