1970 Rear Shock Bolt Torques: Conflicting information in CSM

On one page in the 1970 CSM specifications section it says the torque for the upper shock nut is 8 ft. lbs., and the lower is 15 ft. lbs.

But on the next page there's another table that specifies 50 and 35, respectively.

I'm replacing the rear shocks... what should be the bolt torques?

Looking at this further, Specifications page 3 "Bolt Torques" is probably the front suspension. It also shows ball joints and LCA.

    Mystery solved.

Mark, Yes that first page is Front, second is Rear. The AIM should show the torque specs. I would use that.

I don't have a 1969 AIM handy but For reference the 1967 AIM shows 40-60 lbs/ft for the top nut and bottom nut is 30-40 lbs/ft. This makes sense based on the CSM specs of 50 lbs/ft and 35 lbs/ft respectively.

Usually, the torque spec shown in the CSM will be exactly in the middle of the torque range shown in the AIM. And, this case is a perfect example of that.
