1963 - 1966 Corvette AC Fitting & Muffler Assemblies

The discussion on the Corvette AC compressors is GR8 but after looking at the '63 to '67 AIMs I curious about the part number listing with regards to the configurations of the "Fitting & Muffler Asms."

The 1963, 1964, & 1965 AIMs I have list the following:
#3826079 FITTING & MUFFLER ASM &
#3850604 OPT

The 1966 & 1967 AIMs list the following:
#3895917 FITTING & MUFFLER ASM &
#3885128 L36

QUESTION #1 is what is the difference between the #s listed for the 1963-1965 AC FITTING & MUFFLER ASM & the OPT?
QUESTION #2 since the 1966 AIM REVISION RECORD indicates the change from the 1963 to 1965 #s was authorized on 7-17-65 & the #3895917 & the L36 were authorized on 12-16-65 could 1965s have received the 1966 configuration AC FITTING & MUFFLER ASMs?

It's also interesting the September 1971 parts book lists #3895917 as 67 (427) with no mention of 67 327. My 1967 AIM lists the same two part numbers you posted.
The parts book also shows #3895917 as 63-66 corvette.

Pete, The A/C muffler changed configuration from 63 to 66. I'm away till next week. I'll post some pictures when I get home next week.

I looked at my 67 (427) AC fitting and muffler and it has a single horizontal charging port on the outboard side of the mounting block. I think the 1966 fitting is similar but has two horizontal charging ports, one on each side of the mounting block. I think the 1963 to 1965 are visually quite different. I think there is a photo in the 63 or 64 service manual.
I know this doesn't answer your questions and I look forward to hearing what the experts have to say.
