    Power Steering Cylinder Identification

I have a power steering cylinder with what appears to be LS1017 stamped on it, or it could be L31017.

Is this for the 101st day of 67 or 77? Or is this even from a Corvette?

The 70 to 72 power steering cylinders are supposed to just have DDDYY stamped on them.

    Thanks,
    Allen

Per Chevrolet Service Product I D Manual the usage of the designated I D letter "L'" (meaning assembly station) appears to have been first used on the Power steering pump for the years 1977 thru '79. Based on this I would venture your part is 1977.

I just received a power steering control valve from the same vender, and it has the same LS1017 I thought I had ordered original 70 parts that were rebuilt, but with both of them having this same stamping, I am thinking the LS1017 may be a new reproduction stamping.

Well I woke up in the middle of the night last night and figured out what LS1017 means. It is Lonestar October 2017. Lonestar Caliper stamps it on parts to know when they rebuilt the part for warranty purposes.

I called Lonestar today. They are going to rebuild a power steering cylinder and power steering control valve for me without their stamp, but it won't have the warranty. I am willing to forgo the warranty to have a more original part.

If you are ordering a part from Lonestar Caliper that is going to be judged, make sure to let them know if it is going to be NCRS or Bloomington Gold judged, and they can rebuild the part to be more correct and leave off their stamp.
