Would like to know why these two 1/4 inch holes are still present on the left rear inner fender splash shield on a 1967. I know that the two holes were used for '65 and '66 to mount the antenna bracket. The bracket was not used on '67. I have confer with two other owners which have a January, a June built cars. This is an April car that I am working on. You would think since the bracket is not used on '67 that the holes would not be present.

Yes that is for electric antenna mounting bracket holes. Seems the holes are there on all '67. My question is why they are still there because no bracket is used for '67. I can see the holes being there at the start of production and then running out. I know of a June built car with the holes still there.- Top

Re: 1967 Left Rear Inner Splash Shield Panel Holes
For the same reason that, for example, the underside of 'all 67 small block hoods had an opening for the installation of the '66 hood emblem. 1967 was a lame duck model year before introduction of the shark body style. From GM's standpoint, why pay extra for retooling a hood or splash shield that was perfectly functional for the last year of that body style? Many other examples exist, such as SB top shielding that still has a separate slot on the back for the FI ground strap.- Top
