Hi folks, I'm new and this is my first attempt at a post. Please be patient, I'll get the hang of it! I'm about to order a new interior kit (red) for our '66 Convertible and was wondering if anyone has any recommendations on who to purchase it from. I have several catalogues and am leaning toward Corvette Central (free shipping right now). Spoke with a local NCRS judge a few days ago and he noted that arm rests are a dead give away to reproduction door panels-original rests were "soft and supple" while reproductions are "hard". Okay, that's a clue. I'm also going to buy a new hood (mine's cracked) so I'd certainly listen to input on that, too. Thanks, Doug

Check into http://www.romeoengineering.com/1963-67.html
It appears they provide a lot of the re-sellers.
All their products are made in the USA.

Re: Seat Restoration Time
Seat covers and install there is a special at Corvette America going on. I find their covers second to none. Made in Pa. by them. Door panels are ok but as noted here they are detectable as reproduction no matter where you obtain them. Grain on door panels is a dead give-away. Same with seat backs and dash pads. So understand knowledge persons will be able to detect them as reproduction. Good originals can demand premiums.- Top

Re: Seat Restoration Time
Thanks for the input, folks. I'll check into those interior sources. My favorite body & fender man looked at the cracks (they're running along side the scoop-as usual), scratched his head (and he does do fiberglass work) and told me he didn't have a clue how to fix that without it showing and screwing up judging. I agree, it certainly can be fixed (cheaper than a new one I'd presume) but I plan on having this car judged and the fewer blems I have, the better. If you know of a method to fix the hood without it showing, I'd love to know it and I'd certainly go straight back to my body shop guy and share it with him. I'd certainly much prefer to fix the original.- Top

Re: Seat Restoration Time
I just installed new seat covers and foam from Corvette America on my 65 and the fit is perfect. I also bought their door panels and the fit, especially along the vent window, is identical to the factory ones. As noted above, the grain is ever so slightly different but the pliability of the arm rests is the same as my originals. Several others have complained about the fit of the competitors door panels.- Top

Re: Seat Restoration Time
Thanks, Jim. I looked at Corvette America's products on line and they certainly do look good. Gene Mentioned a "special" going on right now but I couldn't find that (darn!). I'll look a bit more but I'm certainly leaning toward CA's interior parts-they seem to be getting a lot of endorsements. Doug- Top
