53-55 Headlight Bezel Screens

The ones on my 54 are in GREAT shape, but for one wire that is severed in one place and separated from several crossing wires. It almost looks like someone tried to repair it at one time. I am curious if anyone knows of a good supplier of repros or a quality restoration person. They seem to be made of stainless, but I am no expert. I am assuming that all three years are the same. I just have this funny feeling that even if I find repros they will not have that nice curvature that the originals have. Below are a few photos.

Could be welded. Then using your jeweler files and Dremel tool it would be up to you to get the weld back into shape.

Repo screens, if they are still available, are flat. I shaped mine over a football while watching a game on TV. Its not hard to get the right shape. Seems to me I then trimmed some of the wire ends to get them to fit perfectly and aligned north and south within the bezels.

Hi Tony,

I have a guy here in the Pacific Northwest that I used to weld a couple of broken wires. He's a good friend and a good detail oriented welder; he rebuilds vintage aircraft. PM me if you need his info.
