There is a spring clip that holds the two window cranks on. They come out very easy..... if you have the special tool..... which is not expensive at all. You can fabricate one if you have a flat piece of aluminum and a set of sheers or a jig saw with a metal cutting blade. They look like this - available from vendors like zip for less than $10.

            Re: Door Skin Removal

I just finished the same effort on my '67. Searching the past posts here, I found the "cloth" method for removing the door lock omega clip. I cut a piece of cloth 12"x1" and slid it between the lock and the door panel. I then moved it back and forth (sawing motion) around the lock knob until it hooked the omega clip and pulled it loose.

Rod mentioned that the clip is an "omega" clip, and the tool that Ed shows is probably the best way to remove it. I've removed hundreds of these clips and you can come underneath the handle and push one or both legs off the shaft, or you can come in from the back side, hook the loop of the clip and pull it out that way. My favorite tool is a spring clip remover with several different adapters. It is cheap tool and does not work as well as Ed's tool.

                Hey Jim,

I've had the same difficulties with the locks on my 72. They also come with an omega clip. I fought with it for a while and finally purchased a tool. It still took some patience but it finally worked.

One question for you though.... how are you going to remove the door skin material or were you asking that question here? I'm asking because I have my original door panels and was wondering how to do this.

I don't mean to hijack your post. I was just hoping to get some advice here instead of starting a new thread.

Rick, not sure about a C3 door skin but mine came out and back in fairly easy(C2). The top of the skin
more or less rests on a lip I just gently pulled the bottom of skin out a little bit so as to help get buy the
window and lock cranks(the handles attach too) and slid upwards. Putting them back on took a little more
finesse but all n all pretty easy. BUT not sure if C3's are the same or not.
