How many '78 Pace Cars L82 4-Speed

Hi All,

I'm helping a friend gather some information. How many 1978 Pace Cars were equipped with the L82 and a 4 speed? Do we know this information?

I'm not sure who "we" is but many numbers are thrown around so that suggests "we" don't know. The question typically is asked in regards to L82 M21 Pace Cars with M21 the close-ratio four-speed option. The assumption is that L82 M21 Pace Cars are the most rare. Not true either, the L48 M20 Pace Car had only 70 built. The L82 M21 numbers reveal 512 were built.

The difference is that the L82 M21 are the most desired Limited Edition Pace Cars...not the most rare. Too often sellers report that only 200 L82 M21 Pace Cars were built but are unable to provide support for this claim.

So that's the numbers briefly.
