    Tank Sticker picture ?

    Hello;

    Wondering if anyone has successfully taken a picture of the tank sticker on a '67 convertible without removing the gas tank?

    I held the gas filler rubber boot down and can see what appears to be a production sheet on the gas tank to the left
    of the gas filler neck.

    Any help or opinions welcome. Thank you in advance.

    Ray

    I have not heard of taking a good picture that way, but I have used a bore-hole televiewer to poke down there and have copied all the info I could see moving it around the sticker.

        Pictures through the gas filler opening. Can't read any print.
        Looks very fragile, think I'll leave it be.

          Ray,

          We took some years ago of the sheet on the tank of my high option '67 L36 convert. The sheet was in very good condition. It was covered with plastic, and the original tank was put back in the car.

            I know you asked about pictures of sheets with the tank not removed, but we knew we had to remove the tank to be able to read the sheet.

              The last thing you want is that thing blowing off (if you drive your car). I know that's why i removed my original tank off my Silver 67 and replaced the tank with an original, aged one (to match the patina of the unrestored undercarriage. Just my two cents, and it's SO easy to do. ARA

                Ara, I like that idea a lot more than covering it with plastic as we did 20 years ago.

                  remove it carefully before it turns to dust, copy it and store original, leaving it on a mistake imo

                    And keep it in a very dark place. I spoke with a historical document guru and he said that even indirect UV light will turn the tank sheet black and unreadable quickly. I took a close up, detailed picture of mine, printed copies of the pictures, and mounted it in a frame with UV glass and have it face down on my shelf so no light gets to it. ARA

                      Removed my 67 coupe sticker 30 years ago and I photo copied it and now it sits in a cold dark safe. I agree remove it before it is gone. I had a 67 roadster at the same time and when I removed the tank 50% of the sticker was already gone. You are very fortunate that there is anything left at this time.

                        Mine is on my '67 coupe, and I decided to leave it as part of the car. After reading these posts I wonder if I should go ahead and remove it.

                          Randy I would remove the sticker. I brought my whole 67 roadster tank to a LI corvette restorer to have what was left of it removed ( 50%) and glad I did. He was able to clean it up and make it readable.
