    Leaky shock absorbers?

I have a set of early (1967) Delco shocks for my 57 Gasser that were chromed over 40 years ago and they are leaking oil. Is there anything that can be done to save them? I understand there are people who rebuild them but cutting them open and re-welding them will probably ruin the chrome. Any thoughts?
