3186906 is the standard Pliacell Delco for '65 Corvette fronts. I'm a blank on the other #.

Agree with Loren, I can't find that number in any parts book I have. Are you sure of the number? There was a 3186901, it was replaced with 3186992 and is a rear shock for 64-66 G-10. Maybe Joe can find that number!

The problem is that on-shock part numbers are usually different from the SERVICE part number even though the on-shock part number in the SERVICE part number box may be the same. I believe this is because the SERVICE part number contains other parts besides the shock and, thus, the SERVICE part number represents the number for the shock + other included parts.

In any event, the part number mentioned, 5532410, is a part number for an older, 50's era shock just as the stamped dates would otherwise indicate. Whether it's for a Corvette application, I do not know.

Potential Caa-Ching! According to my March '58 parts book, 5532410 is shown as "57-58 CORV. (H.D. Brake/Susp.)" and from the dregs of my memory and Dick Dalieden's '58 Brakes car, the #s found in the INFO section of the parts listing - "(685H)(02N10/D2)" were also found stamped on the shock. Of the two, the parts book is far more reliable. In 1959, the 59 Corvette would be added to the list. Finally going through the treasures as winter approaches, huh?

Yes, I should have looked in an older catalog but I only checked a 1960 catalog. GM #5532410 was discontinued on May 1, 1959 and replaced by GM #5543738. So, in this case the on-shock part number was the same as the SERVICE part number. It may be that no other parts were supplied with this shock.
