    C2 Transmission output shaft seal

Need advice / recommendation for the correct transmission output shaft seal (rear seal) for a 64 close ration 4 speed. According to one source the correct GM part # is (was) 1243402. I say "was" because I can't find that part # now under any GM listing.

I have had difficulty cross referencing that GM # to a named brand replacement seal. I have found rear seals by a number of brands but I am not sure I have the correct seal. Timken has a seal and the part # for that part on their website is 9613S.

Can anyone confirm that is the correct seal - it is available from Rock Auto, for a few dollars plus shipping. Or, can someone recommend a source, including part # for a correct output shaft seal for a 64.

    Thank you
    Ed

Walk into your local automotive transmission shop they will have one. Same seal as the Power-glide and the THM 350. Every rebuild kit comes with this seal and every 4X4 they rebuild has a seal they don't use. My guess is they will treat you well. Close ratio and wide ratios all take the same seal.
If you were looking for a part number check the National part number 450308 Oil Seal, or Timken 9613S.

The current GM part number for the seal is GM #8673526. However, it's likely exactly the same seal as National 9613S.

        Richard, Joe,

Thanks for the quick reply and confirming that the Timken 9613S is the correct seal. I will go with that.
