Hi all. When I purchased my 67 coupe it came with 4 reproduction 7.75x15 Firestone "Deluxe Champion" bias ply red line tires and a radial white wall spare that fit the tub poorly. Wanting a matching spare, and thinking that all 7.75x15 repo red line Firestones would be the same, I ordered one. When it came, I noticed that it did not say "Deluxe Champion", but "Super Sport", and it has a slightly different tread design as well. I can live with it as a spare, but after looking at page 91 of the 1967 NCRS Technical Information Manual and Judging Guide ( 6th edition), it appears that the 4 "Deluxe Champions" may earn a total deduction. It seems like the spare is turning out to be the only tire out of the 5 that should be on the car for judging. If I'm reading the guide correctly, "Deluxe Champions" are only acceptable if they are black walls or white walls. Under option "QB1 Red Line tires", it seems to me that the Guide only lists the "Super Sports". What would the deduction be for my current setup of 4 repo/dot Firestone red line "Deluxe Champions" with a Firestone 7.75x15 repo/dot red line "Super Sport" spare? Thanks!

Re: Judging of Repo Firestone Red Line Tires
Brian, thanks. I see where you got that. I was thinking that the Deluxe Champions were the correct Brand ( Firestone) but NOT the correct "Type" as mentioned in that table. Maybe "type" simply means bias ply. I was thinking that the correct "type" meant Super Sports in my situation. I'm sure I'm making this way too hard, lol.- Top
