Low miles, 1/4 at a time? What serial number started with FI in 57? Sounds like a fun car. What is the condition? Got my interest.

Possible FI, late enough for 4 spd, could be air box, could be 684, built early April for SCCA - worth a follow-up.

        Loren,

No 684 (I don't think) but it does have the original block. FI gone but that should be no problem.
Is there some way a identify 684 cars with box gone?

Are there ducting tubes in the rocker panels from the front to the rear?

There was at one time past, a 44xx, for sale in Ohio... I know very little about the car, but the number was just before (or next after) my friend's '57.

Here's a pic of the 57 block pad. Don't know the date of the casting.
Remarks from the experts. Don't look for the broach marks as it sat outside for years.
Trees had to be trimmed to get this 57 moved.

JR, I flipped the image and cropped and zoomed in on the pad for you. Appears to be F50IEL

                  Thanks Rich,

Doesn't flip often but it did this time.

Ugly little bugger when zoomed! But it wasn't stamped yesterday! That date should fall right into the time when this 57 went down the assembly line.

Keep looking as they are there. For the pad only.

Love to see more details. May 1, 1957 was a Wednesday. I like it. Do you have transmission photos and dates? I am happy to share ''original'' examples, but need you to do likewise.

                            Jim,

Sorry but the 4 speed is long gone. It was removed about 20 years ago and sold at Carlisle. If you need some pics I would be glad to get them for you. The FI unit has been removed along with the Air Cleaner. A heater and radio have been installed. In other words this 57 is real but is not exactly what you would call a restoration candidate. At least not for under 75K. But after purchasing and restoring the buyer could realize some profit. Think I have some pictures of the 4 speed but not at the tip of my fingers.
