'65 Fuel Pump Fitting #3855147 to Fuel Pump #6440083 Alignment

Does anyone have any thoughts on how to correctly align the brass 90-degree fitting (#3855147) that feeds the fuel pump (#6440083) into the aluminum pump housing on a '65 small block? When I try to orientate it pointing straight up (where it should be) it seems loose. When I continue to tighten it up, it begins to get very tight about 1/3 turn later, leaving it "out of position." Is there a proper torque that should be applied and should I use some sort of thread sealant, if I am unable to tighten and align the fitting correctly?

Ray, you might try some Locktite 545 thread sealant, put it on, let it cure in correct position for 24 hours, see if that solves the position problem, worth a try.

It the Loctite fails use a tap to deepen the threads somewhat.
If the tap bottoms out cut some of the end off with a friction saw.
