1972 kick panel finish

Need to repainted the kick panels and e-brake cover. Interior is black deluxe. Can someone tell me if it is supposed to be flat or semi gloss?

Mike, I believe that the plastic items where impregnated with color. In any event when I restored my 72 aging of these items tends to make them look bad and faded. so I used some Corvette America interior paint to freshen up. the gloss factor did not seem to bother the judges. black should be a easy color, I would at least try to clean up with soap and water first, then paint after if you deem, either way you have the surface clean for paint.

Agreed. Most of the companies that sell interior paint also sell prep chemicals and primer. Just don't get it too shiny, that would be my only recommendation.

SEM Landau Black Interior dye is a perfect match in sheen. While some parts may be color impregnated one that is not of sure is the center console. The SEM perfectly matched the sheen on my original kick panels when I painted my NOS center console.
