    68 Big Block L71 Radiator

Had a leak in the original radiator. I told my shop to order the Dewitt's repro BC67M and when it came in I would bring the car in and then they should put the repro in and send my original out for repair. That way IF it was repairable I'd save it for the future and if it wasn't I'd have a real good repro.

When the rad came in they took my car apart and then opened the box for the new radiator, which was completely wrong. So they scrambled and got what they were told is correct. It's installed and working fine except it's got two extra fittings on it. They are on the passenger side rear of the rad, one at the top and one at the bottom.

What are these for? Trans cooler?

So I guess I got the wrong radiator again. There seems to be no such option on the Dewitt's site. I'll have to grill the guy tomorrow and see where he got this. I knew I should have ordered it myself!!!!

I have no idea why the DeWitts BC67M "was completely wrong". That is the correct restoration radiator for your application. If it was wrong, it must have been mis-boxed (which I really doubt). As far as I know, this radiator is not available with oil cooler fittings for THM transmission 1968 applications.

          Joe

These guys just blew it. I don't know where they got this radiator, but it's not a Dewitt's product. I texted the owner last night and we are going to have a sit down this am. I gave them a print out of the page from Dewitt's web site with the correct radiator that I wanted and even wrote the phone number on it.

I should have ordered it myself like I did for my 66 SB. Hind sight is 20/20.

Well Joe, it was Dewitt's that messed up twice. Since they didn't have the radiator I wanted in stock they "thought" I should have an aluminum radiator since it "cools better". Then they sent an aluminum radiator that didn't fit. That took 3-4 weeks. Then when informed that it was wrong they had a copper generic radiator drop shipped from another vendor. (At a price 50% higher than I could have bought it from that vendor)

I didnt believe my shop when they told me this so I called Dewitt and confirmed it. I now have the correct restoration radiator on order and might have it in 3-4 weeks.

I have dealt with Dewitts in the past and I know this is not normal. I'll chalk this up to a mis communication between the shop and them. They make a great product and I will deal with them again.

I should have have just made the order myself. If they told me back then that it was out of stock and there would be a one month delay I would have said "fine". I hate to be "one of those guys" who tries to tell the professionals what to do, but in this case I should have.
