It was mentioned to me as vintage Corvettes pass hands over and over again each owner takes a bit or adds a bit to what's there. This goes on and on with each new person in possession of said car. I deduced from this that the originality is reduced or added to as the car again passes along to another owner and becomes accepted by that new owner along with anything that occurred previously.

I took this to be anything associated with the car. People say they will never sell said car but understand people do die. Truths don't always go with said car.

Well said Gene. It's amazing what is forgotten or embellished over time........

It's important to note that the NCRS as a club really doesn't care about this paperwork thing from a Judging perspective. The people who do care/or should care are the owners, sellers, buyers, dealers etc. who are purists or people who may profit from the value of these cars.

NCRS Is able to offer this incredible service of "validation" at a very reasonable cost to virtually eliminate this fake paperwork issue as it relates to documents that have a legible Indent number. My opinion is that anyone who believes any piece of GM paperwork is real should avail themselves of the validation service that Tim Gilmore and others provide and any person placing value on the presence of paperwork should insist that it is validated.

Because of the high visibility all these rather controversial responses have caused, I've managed to be the recipient of much more 65 Sticker info than I ever dreamed...I've now receive at least fifteen originals, as well as about an equal number of repros, as well as some claimed originals, that aren't, and a list of VINs vs numbers. I'm pretty sure, if I wanted to bother (I don't) I could now validate about any 65 sticker out there, without even looking at the decisive number.

As this thread has accomplished its mission and also gotten a bit off the original intent, I'm going to take my new found sticker expertise, have one of the current reproduction guys make my sticker, and bow out. Remind me never to mention stickers again.

        All the best,
        Mike

          Mike,
Don't be discouraged. Years ago I made the same type of request and got the same "snipey"comments... Like you, I had a really nice original car, that I knew was straight and I wanted a window sticker. Wow, It was like I was Jesse James, John Dillinger and Clyde Barrow all rolled into one. As long as you know that your intentions are pure, what do you care what some of these bozos think or say? What is does show you though, is that there's definitely a "Snob factor" within our organization. B.T.W. I used Microsoft Excel, came up with a simple fill in the blank program that spits out, if I say so myself, a replica that looks like the real thing. Believe me ,my car's not for sale...I'm not trying to hoodwink anyone. If someone asks if it is a replica, I always tell them it is...If they don't ask...I let them think what they will. I have no intention to profit on anything bogus. Besides, if I was going to "booger" a car, it wouldn't be a very common, small block, no optioned '72. Good Luck

I will bet this car had a G2 date on the trim tag. Perhaps same as 10866x.

People's opinions differ on the creation of facsimile documentation. I don't believe that proves there is a snob factor in this club.
That's just my opinion. Yours may vary.
