    C2 weatherstrip

The rear deck weatherstrip I received is about a foot too short. Where do I get a good one?

    Thank you,

    Randy

I agree with Ed. Fits great and stays flexible.

Check your packaging or call whomever you purchased the weatherstrip from . It very well may be from Corvette Rubber.
If not, I, like most here recommend you get it from them . Not just for fitment issues , but for softness as well .

However having just done all the weatherstrips myself , I can tell you that Corvette Rubber's deck lid strip is also short and needs to be stretched. I don't think it was a full foot short , but it was short !

To install , I measured it end to end and marked the center in chalk . I than marked the center of the deck lid . Starting from the front of the deck , I installed the strip in sections , stretching ever so slightly until the center lines lined up .

I ordered the convertible deck lid weather strip from Corvette Rubber for my C2 and they sent me the same part for a C3 which did not fit. It took a few minutes for me to figure out what was wrong. Corvette Rubber corrected the problem by sending another one with no issues.

I was looking at their web site. Kind of difficult to understand what anything is they are selling. Shame because it sounds like they have good products, looks like a call might be the way to order.

When I did the first restoration on my '65 Coupe in the late 70s the GM door seals made the roof doors bulge out at the roof. They were terrible, I had to cut them down. Then I saw an ad in Vette Vues claiming theirs seals didn't bulge, never changed them but I always remember fighting the service replacement weatherstrips.

              Gentlemen,

The Name "Corvette Rubber" is often confused. The original "Corvette Rubber Company", my company of choice, is.....

              It is often confused with....

Which may get rubber products from several manufacturers, not necessarily from "Corvette Rubber Company" in Michigan.

Somewhat confused I wrote mmri-crc.com. Turns out there two companies are one in the same with one doing retail and the other wholesale sales and likely the manufacturing. Their reply has been copied below; Rick

Thanks for inquiring. We do have a retail division that only sells our product. That will ensure that you are getting the "right stuff" You can contact Erica at Corvette Rubber Retail at 231-779-2888 or buy from their website www.corvette-rubber.com. If you have any other questions feel free to let us know and we'll do our best to get you an answer.
                Thank you,
                Meghan

Rick, I always thought they were 2 separate suppliers. Thanks for verifying this.

I've always bought directly from CRC. I recently purchased all the W/S for my 65 (body, soft top & hardtop) and this was the return label. They are the best on the market. NOS GM W/S is garbage, rock hard and fits like crap.
