'65 hardtop rear bolts to deck lid (bumpers install)

I find it impossible to insert the black plastic bumpers (3830940) into the hollow end of the 2 bolts (3828264). Ref. AIM UPC C60, Sheet 6.

Any suggestions welcome.

I had to clean out the hole on the end of the bolts with a drill before I could insert mine. The plastic bumpers are fragile and I broke a couple before I decided to ream out the holes. If the hole turns out to be too large, use some weatherstrip adhesive to keep them in place.

Wayne, it's September! That was supposed to be a wintertime project that, started in December, would keep you occupied until at least February. Boring months ahead, fella.

Repros do not fit.

I shave the ribs off of the plastic shaft so they slip in after applying a little black weatherstrip cement.
