I am desperately looking for a decent 3956119 radiator shroud for my 70 restoration completion. The original is have has been cut in half by a prior owner. In the meantime I purchased a reproduction, but after 150 miles it has warped and bowed terribly and is rubbing against the fan blades. There appears to be a fiberglass version, part number 41360 for sale with several Corvette vendors, but I have been unable to find out details and who produces this version. I am wondering if anyone has purchased and used the fiberglass replacement and their experience. Also, would anyone have a decent original or NOS one they would be willing to part with? Thank you to all in advance.

Re: 3956119 shroud for my 70 big block restoration
Siegfried,
I have no experience with the repop. You might buy it and return it if not satisfactory.
Alternatively, press the original into service while you hunt for an original or NOS.
Depending on how clean the cut and its location, repairing the original may be an option too. This is what makes the hobby fun.Mark Edmondson

Re: 3956119 shroud for my 70 big block restoration
Unfortunately, I purchased the repop 5 years ago. I am working on returning it to the vendor, but I am not holding my breath. If anyone knows of a material to repair the original, I would definitely give it a try. It is a very clean cut on both sides with holes drilled so 6 zip ties can hold it together. A couple of people have told me it is made from pressed fiberglass but I am not so sure. I brought it to a plastic repair/welding facility to ask if they could repair it, but they are unsure of the material. I thought a fellow on eBay had a nice NOS piece, but after looking at several pictures I saw it had 2 pieces broken and missing from it in the corners. Still on the hunt! If anyone has one they would part with please let me know.- Top

You might want to contact Scott Sinclair, who used to repair spare tire tubs. He can likely give you some tips on how to repair your shroud.Vice-Chairman (West), Michigan Chapter NCRS
