    1963 Disconnect Antenna From Radio

How do you disconnect the antenna from the AM radio? The radio panels and glove box have been removed and I am almost embarrassed to ask, but I do not see a connector of any type to loosen where the antenna attaches to the radio. Is there anything else that needs to be removed before sliding the radio out on the driver's side?

This '63 Coupe is my first car (Dad bought it in Galena Park, TX back in 1970). I had started to restore it in the late '80's but life got in the way (job change, move, new born, and caring for parents) so I am trying again after much hesitation.

    Thank You for the help,

    Fred Hager

The antenna cable simply pulls out of the radio.

On my 64 I was able to access the antenna plug on the radio from the drivers side by removing the access panel on the console. I checked my radio and antenna by just plugging in a cheap marine antenna.

Thank you all for the help - just being overly cautious I guess.
