      Bruce,

The procedure is in the ST-12 manual. Use a large adjustable wrench as a lever and it's relatively easy task.

      Regards,

Bruce, There is an article on RareCorvettes.com called 56 to 62 clutch spring replacement that will show you how to make a jig for replacing the clutch spring safely.
I made one from a few things from Lowes and was pleased how easy it was.

Some pad the spring coils full of fender washers to expand it. Then install it and push the clutch in and the washers fall out...
NONE of that is necessary - not washers nor special jig. I've even know of one case where an owner used a "come along" and ruined some paint.

A simple crescent wrench will get it on or off in a few minutes...

This procedure was written by Chevrolet over 50 years ago. It takes only a few seconds to install the spring by following them. There's no need to re-invent the wheel.

Dennis, couldn't figure how to get this spring on. took your advice and looked at ST 12 and found out it was never attached correctly. there was no hair pin to attach it to. Spring was hooked on the top of the bracket. No wonder it came off. when on easily once I had the correct hardware. Thanks for your help.
