1973 Air Conditioning Drier shrader valve access for low presure measurement/Freon in

Am not able to hook up low side Freon/A/C gauge hose; I do not have enough clearance for the Drier shrader valve access; because of the evaporator core housing.

Is their a work around that would leave the hose set up like the factory and still provide access?

Is their a shrader valve type 90 degree adapter for hooking up the low side A/C gauge hose to measure low side pressure or put in Freon?

All suggestions welcome.

I am primarily a C2 guy so I am not exactly familiar with the C3 Schrader fittings and access. That being said, there are 90 degree or "ell" fittings available for Schrader valves. I use such a fitting for the C2 BB AC cars on the high pressure side.

Suggest you Google "automobile air conditioning fittings" or something similar to locate what you need. Robinair and Yellow Jacket are two brand names. Mastercool is another. Ebay and Amazon are good sources for these.

If you cannot find, let me know and I will locate an AC fitting website for you or locate these fittings for you. Cost is only a few $ each fitting.

Cost is higher than typical, and you can do better $ if you search awhile. This one is Robinair, but YJ and Mastercool also have similar fittings.

Access is so tight that I am not sure there would be room even for this fitting.

Thanks, got the 90 but, still the clearance on the evaporator cover is to close so the cap can't close on it. Any otjher fittings thoughts?

No other suggestions at this time. I am just not familiar enough with the C3 cars to be much more benefit/help for you. Need other 1973 owners with factory AC or old Chevy mechanics to help us out.

EDIT: I would probably go to an AC service facility and see if they can help. There may be a special fitting available. What does the GM Service Manual say about this?? You could perhaps make a custom fitting or have one made. But need a good welder or mechanic.

Thanks Russ............I thought so, but posted it up anyway. Maybe something similar exists for the "low pressure problem fitting", that Tom is fighting. I have not tried additional searches, but may do so as time permits.
