    Exhaust manifold restoration...

    This is the original passenger side manifold for my 63 Fuelie. Its a bit of a patchwork of welds now, but worth fixing as these things are rarer than hens teeth and it goes on a Duntov car. ...

    I'm about to put it back onto the car, so I'm wondering the best paint to use to cover the obvious welds. Seems to me I used a gold colored Paragon product on the other one. I had to bake it a long time for it to turn grey. It looked good when finished, so I suppose I can do that again, but I'm wondering if there is a grey manifold paint that I don't need to bake...

    Any advice?

    Thanks

    Mike

    Hi Mike,

    I had my exhaust manifolds restored by Jerry MacNeish a few years ago. He includes a spray can of VHT cast iron spray paint when he sends them back. Here's a link:

    I hope this helps.

        These were done with Seymour Cast Blast. They were grey when sprayed, but I did bake them to cure the paint per the instructions. I haven't run them yet, so no report on durability.

          I know restorers that use this product;
          POR-15 High Temp Paint, 8oz - Manifold Gray

          Seem to have good luck with it.
          About $18 dollars a can. It is not spray on.

            I used the POR-15 on my manifolds and they look real good. I also had some brazing showing as the OP does - just not as much - and it seemed to cover it well. You cannot see the brass. Not available in rattle can, as you say, but I spray painted them.
