Need to obtain OEM replacement radio for 69 coupe

    Guys,

I need to obtain an OEM replacement radio for my 69 coupe. The original was discarded for an aftermarket upgrade by the previous owner. I have looked on ebay and there are a few available but they vary in the years they are described to apply to, i.e. 68-70, 68-76, etc. Is there a specific one that I need for a car that will be judged when completed? Is there a specific model or part number I can inquire about to ensure I am getting a correct match? Thanks.

68-71 had green numerals. The knobs were different for 69 then 68 or 70+ Most are probably radios but some were stereo with little green lights on them. They were all specific to corvette. When looking at used ones look for sign of rust and if they still have the plug ends. Also be sure to get the correct heat sink and speakers. I send my 72 out for upgrading 10 yeas ago and can't say I am pleased with it all that much. I would have been better off having the original rebuilt by someone who knows these radios, which 10 years late isn't as easy to find as they once were.

Look behind the map pouch the heat sink might still be there then all you need is the radio.

1968-71 Corvette radios were the same. Look for a paper tag with the number 7302721. Knobs did differ over the period, though. I think the 1969 knobs are available in reproduction.

          Exactly.
The radio was actually a 2 piece unit. Behind your passenger dash pad should be the "forgotten" piece of the unit.
Show us a photo of that, and we can help narrow down if you need a regular or a Stereo radio.

            Mike,

The radios are on E-bay and a dime a dozen.
Just get the green face with the amp included, the numbers don't matter.
