Not NCRS Correct but Period Correct.

At the Tri Five Nationals Beech Bend Dragstrip in Bowling Green, KY on August 11 & 12.
Got a Top Ten pick fron Painless Wiring and Street Rodder Magazine.
Not bad considering there were 2700+ cars registered.
    Nice write up at bottom.

This car is one of the most period perfect Gassers we have ever seen and for good reason. Most of the parts on this car were purchased in the late sixties and the car was just assembled in the past two years. From the chrome straight axle to the Olds rear and the vintage 327 small-block this car shouts gasser. Vintage Hilborn injection was converted to EFI by the owner and vintage Hurst Air Heart disc brakes slow things down. Inside the chrome roll bar and SW Winged gauges are just some of the highlights.

      Bruce that's awesome. Congratulations!

You did a fantastic job recreating the era. I always loved the gasser look on a Corvette.

          Joe,
          The Cragars on the back are 8" X 16" with a 5 X 5 bolt pattern ( Olds & Pontiac 9.3") and are dated Nov. 1969.
          They are in great condition.

              Bruce,

My Cragars are so old the centers were polished aluminum and the rings are chrome.

As an old Gasser drag racer (36 Chev coupe, 51 truck straight axle, 62 Pontiac 4:88 rear end, rock crusher 4-speed, 327 punched out with 2 4s, high rise, velocity stacks, Jahns pistons, painted by Kosmoski, etc.) , this sure brings back fond memories! I can almost smell the gas and rubber; in addition to, all the excitement at the track! Thanks for the pictures!

                            Bruce,
My heart skipped a beat, excellent 50,s Gasser. I raced a 60 in C-modified sports, a 10 sec car at Lions Drag strip. You made my day.

When I went to look at the 57 I told the seller that I just wanted the "original" stuff.
He told me I had to take everything since he was moving out of state. Everything included the original 283/283 HP engine, and 5 pickup truck loads of parts. I took my wife to see the car and the parts and told her the price was to high.
She told me "don't be stupid, give him what he wants", so I gave in and bought it.
The seller had begun building it into a Gasser (1969) and to fulfill his dream I completed it for him, and myself.
It has been a fun build. My helper, my wife did some under dash wiring and choose the paint color among other things
As suggested I will probably enter it into the NCRS Concours class.
                              Thanks for the comments.
