    66 corvette engine bay paint

Redoing a 66 coupe engine bay. JM says FLAT black, a arms gloss. My 69 is semi gloss, I read in the archives low gloss or semi gloss for a 66.
    1. Is flat black for a 66 corect? Or not.
    2. What year did it change from flat to semi?
    Thanks
    Cal

It's all the same blackout paint, so it your 69 is original then use that as an example.
Low gloss/satin is how I would describe it.
Eastwood used to have a paint labeled as Underhood paint that was a very close match; not sure if that exists any more or not. Others may have paint suggestions too.

Krylon Industrial #K01613A07. It's lacquer and is a perfect match to the factory finish.

It's standard Krylon rattle can acrylic lacquer, same thing they used to sell in the white can with the red Krylon label called Semi Flat #1613. It is very good at spot spray touch up, or recoat, dries quickly, as usual light thin coats (2 or 3) rather than one heavy coat (wait 10 minutes or something like that between coats, specifics printed on the can). I have had zero trouble with this product and have used it for years. I've used it many places on my 66 zero problems just have to make sure surfaces are clean.

Anyone have the article by John Hinckley that describes the Duco 10% GLOSS BLACK LACQUER?
