Should 1961 trunk stowage foam pads be painted?

For 1961/62 the TIM&JG discusses that the clips and rivets were painted trunk color but doesn't discuss if the foam pads were painted? What's the answer?

The only foam pads I am aware of were on the bottom of the trunk plywood. They were attached to the already-stained plywood, so the answer is "no".

There are three pads for the handle and jack. If they were installed after the paint process then I'm assuming they should be unpainted.

maybe the OP is citing the Rubber, not foam, pieces that glue to the trunk floor pan where the lug and jack wrench install. . mike

The pads glued to the trunk floor for the jack handle and lug wrench were not painted.

Thanks for the info. I'll remove the painted ones. Any spec for these "high-density foam rubber pads" such as width or thickness?
