    That horrific thunderstorm at Carlisle...

which occurred about 5 years ago. It happened around 4PM when a lot of people were leaving for the day. There were pictures of the carnage in the aftermath which were posted here and I remember seeing them. One in particular was a huge tent which covered beautiful restored cars and it blew over on to the cars and there was a lot of damage.

I've tried a search here to find that thread with no luck. Does anyone here remember that thread and the pictures which were posted here? Thanks in advance. Patrick

Pat I remember a serious storm back in 2007
I believe it was a tornado.
Went through late afternoon and took down the large tent with all the 1957 that were in it for the year of the 57.

      Found this thread: https://www.forums.ncrs.org/showthre...carlisle+storm

The first post has a link to a thread at "Corvette Forum", but all the pictures are gone.

The last post has another link, but that link appears to be dead.

Thanks David you nailed it, the 57th Anniversary of the '57 Corvette. I managed to get a couple pictures from that horrific afternoon.

Reminds me of the horrible one that ruined Bloomington this year.

I remember that as well there was also a major multi car crash on either 81 or the turnpike that caused major delay leaving the fairgrounds as well.

I knew we were in trouble the next morning. As we approached the fairgrounds, there were no visible tents left standing. Correct, it was 2007.

I remember that day well. I was parked right outside of the tent and managed to leave with my 57 about 30 minutes before the storm hit. It was Congo hot that day and the national weather service issued a storm warning. I had a 4 hour drive home and had heavy rain for about half of the drive but no high winds or damage to the car.

I was parked right next to the 57 tent but left before it hit. I had been watching the weather and decided to get out of there before the storm.

Weather looks very good for this year. Hope that doesn't jinx it.

My NOS pieces of 61-62 hardtop stainless were no longer NOS after that storm deposited a tent from a row away right on top of the parts.

I remember that weekend too, the hottest, most humid weather I've been in at Carlisle- it was terrible. We packed up and left for good about 3:00 that Sat because the motel we were at was also terrible. Drove through the storm on 78 without issue, I can't believe it's been 10 years already.

Hope you guys get good weather this year, perfect weather here today in CT. My first show miss in 18 years.

Keith, I remember that one, I was driving my '03 Z06 that year. I pulled out from the Carlisle front gate and all I could see was brake lights. It turned out as I heard there was a two truck/trailer accident on Rt. 81 that had all the lanes blocked. So the police routed all the traffic through the town of Carlisle. It must have taken me an hour just to go about a few blocks. I hope this year goes by with no incidents.
