    Tim,
If you're not too worried about judging points, I can recommend the Group 24 ACDelco PROFESSIONAL GOLD.

Whichever battery you decide to purchase, just be sure it is a Group 24 and it will fit your car correctly.

Group 24 come with pos/neg in both positions and if you use a topper and the rubber corner cushions the threaded rods can be too short. Depends on the battery. I measured and found a group 31 that was a perfect fit with the topper from NAPA. Take your topper with you to make sure it fits. So measure, make sure you get the positive on the correct side and bring your hold down and topper to the store.

A group 24 battery has the positive terminal on the LEFT side (facing toward the battery). If you find one with the positive terminal on the right side, it's either an off-spec battery or a group 24F.

The knife type can be taken apart and re-assembled in reverse position which will make it fit and function better.

Hi Dino, what is the difference between group 24 and group 31? Also, don't know difference between 24 and 24F and FLAT TOP. Think I need a FLAT TOP battery to make topper fit? Any photos of your set up would be greatly appreciated.

I ordered a topper and knife. After they arrive, I will pull current battery, possibly battery tray, top, rods etc and take all to battery store to see what fits. Of course, they probably won't have correct battery in stock to test fit. Sounds like I may need to make a few minor modifications to make it all fit and look as original as possible and GAIN dependability.

                  Thanks, Tim

Hi Russ. Wow, that is a stroke of genius! I will play with that idea when I reassemble everything. I am a little confused at what "reverse" position actually means as I see several ways to possibly reverse set up. A photo of your set up would GREATLY be appreciated!!

                    Thanks,

Any Grp 24 will fit just fine, tray and hold down. I have a Powerstride 24 in one car, and a Delco 24A in another. No troubles with either one. Both have a wheel type cut off switch. Nothing could be easier or more sanitary.

A group 24F is the same as a group 24 except the battery lug polarity is reversed.

A group 31 is a commercial battery that is about 3 inches longer than a group 24. The polarity is the same as a group 24 but I think the lugs are on the battery centerline. I highly doubt that a stock configuration battery hold-down will fit.
